ACCIDENT. - On Monday evening, a somewhat serious accident happened to the Rev. T.B. Stannus, Unitarian minister of Sheffield (formerly of Edinburgh), and three other gentlemen, by the overturning of a double gig. The parties were returning home from an excursion in the country, and as they were driving down the hill below the Surrey Arms, near Hollow Meadows, the horse took fright, and over turned the gig. They were thrown with great violence upon the road; Mr Stannus having one of his arms broken, and being otherwise severely bruised. The other parties were not seriously injured. - Sheffield Mercury of Saturday. - (Later accounts state that Mr Stannus is going on well.) |
